Job Description

The successful candidate in this position has a working level knowledge of NVH principles and testing; the ability to apply them to the evaluation of climate control systems; and the ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical colleagues.



Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and root cause identification of NVH matters through testing of automotive climate control systems (including but not limited to compressor, water pump, HVAC, and refrigeration lines)
  • Review, develop test procedures, and conduct testing per customer specifications
  • Represent the NVH function in product technical design reviews
  • Play a lead role in the development of new technologies and methods as applied to climate control NVH
  • Integrate testing methodologies with CAE and computational analysis
  • Work with product design engineers in all CDP and greenbelt activities as required


Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of NVH principles including acoustics, vibrations, fluid mechanics, order tracking, and sound quality
  • Working knowledge of NVH data acquisition and analysis including:
    1. Sound & Vibration measurement using
      1. Traditional methods with typical transducers (microphones, accelerometers, binaural techniques)
      2. Non-traditional methods (Sound power, sound intensity, and modal techniques)
    2. Analysis of NVH results using Head Acoustics Artemis
      1. Familiarity with other analysis tools is suggested (LMS, B&K, etc.)
  • Working product knowledge of climate systems including
    1. Refrigeration fundamentals (refrigeration cycle & control, compressor operation, fluid transport, evaporator core and condenser)
    2. HVAC fundamentals (blower motor, filtration, diffusers, actuators, evaporator core, heater core, plastic housing design, duct/register designs)
  • This position requires excellent communication skills (written and oral) which will be required to interact with the customer as well as the NVH, product design, and testing teams.
  • Ability to work in a team environment is a must.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing methods of climate systems is beneficial.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).


Special Requirements (ie: Overtime, Travel, etc)

  • Occasional local travel (suppliers, Hanon facilities, customer meetings) and international travel (Europe, Asia) may be required
