Job Description

Work within the Advanced Systems Team to design, develop, and implement prototype controls logic and hardware for advanced automotive thermal system projects.  This includes full operation of a prototype thermal system at both a bench level and vehicle level.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Involvement in all aspects of the business as we continue work with both current and new customers.
  • Interact with customers to help define controls interfaces and requirements.
  • Conduct testing on the thermal system to ensure proper controls operation.
  • Support vehicle level testing onsite at customer facilities and on-road test trips.
  • Setup data acquisition systems for automotive applications.
  • Act in support of regional customer base for advanced refrigerant and application projects. This would include all current projects and new business wins requiring controls integration.
  • Demonstrate the ability to act as technical lead to provide timely issue resolution that positively impacts project cost, quality, timing and customer satisfaction.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills both written and oral as well as the ability to work as an effective cross-functional team member.

Job Requirements


Candidate is required to have a minimum of a BS in Engineering.


Experience is not a requirement; however, is strongly desired.

Desired Competencies and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge in MATLAB/Simulink, Targetlink, Vector Canape, ATI Vision, and dSpace ControlDesk.
  • Knowledge of CAN and LIN for automotive applications.
  • Hands-on experience in controls hardware setup for integration into prototype vehicles.
  • Knowledge of automotive thermal systems including refrigerant sub-systems, heat pumps, and powertrain cooling.
  • Possess a working knowledge of vehicle systems, sub-systems and component deliverables to develop effective solutions.
  • High level of proficiency in the basics of controls and controls development
  • Possess problem solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Able to assess testing results at a system or sub-system level and provide root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Familiarity of a full range of automotive customers and engineering specifications
  • High sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong ability to interface with the customer
  • Demonstrate the ability to work globally and cross culturally
  • Ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrate the ability to participate/lead engineering reviews including Technical Design Reviews
  • Possess ability to both teach, consult and mentor others
  • Willing to support others when questions, consulting or advice is required

Additional Requirements:

Domestic and international travel required

Overtime and schedule flexibility required
